Shaquille O’Neal has one of the most recognizable voices in sports, likely because it’s also one of the deepest. Listening to him talk is fun and soothing, and it’s also useful.
That’s because beginning on Wednesday, you can make Shaq the voice of your Waze navigation app. The guys at “NBA on TNT” previewed some of his commands, which include these gems: “Hazard ahead! Be careful! Don’t cause a … Shaq-cident!”, “Now that’s barbecue chicken alert — barbecue chicken alert!”, “I’m tired of talking … turn me off.”
He’ll even warn you when there are cops on your route so you don’t get yourself a ticket. “Police reported ahead. Don’t be Shaqtin’ a fool.”
The addition of Shaq’s voice comes at a perfect time, too. If you need directions to the Staples Center for Kobe Bryant’s final game, why not have O’Neal get you there?
Shaq isn’t the first star to have his voice added to Waze. Rob Gronkowski, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Morgan Freeman are also available voices, with O’Neal being the latest.
